How to Spot Fake Post-UTME Forms and Admission Scams

Warning signs of fake forms, fake agents and "admission for sale" offers — and how to apply safely on official portals.

Updated 2026-10-23

Why this matters

Every admission season, students lose money to fake forms, fake WhatsApp groups and agents who promise admission. JAMB and the universities have warned that admission is never for sale.

Warning signs of a scam

  • You are asked to pay into a personal bank account or by POS transfer to an individual.
  • The form is sold on WhatsApp, Telegram or Facebook instead of the school's own website.
  • The website address is not the official school domain (for example, it ends in .com.ng instead of the school's .edu.ng address).
  • Someone promises guaranteed admission, "special list" slots or to change your CAPS status for a fee.
  • Someone offers exam questions or answers before the test.

How to apply safely

  • Start from the school's official website — use our Post-UTME portal directory.
  • Pay only through the payment options on the school portal (Remita, card or the bank options it lists).
  • Keep your payment receipt and printout.
  • Check your admission only on JAMB CAPS and the school's own portal.
  • Never share your JAMB password or email login with anyone.

What JOETECH EDU can and cannot do

We can guide you through registration, help you fill forms correctly on official portals, and help you prepare with CBT practice. We cannot and will never promise admission, change results or sell exam answers — final decisions belong to the schools and JAMB.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if I paid a scammer?

Stop all payments, keep every chat and receipt, report to your bank immediately, and report to the school and the police.

Is it safe to get help filling my form?

Yes, as long as the form is completed on the official school portal and payment goes through that portal.

General guidance only. Always confirm dates, fees and requirements on the official JAMB and school websites.
